The more that you learn, the more places you\u2019ll go.\u201d Dr. Seuss<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.\u201d Jim Rohn<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There are now <a href=\"https:\/\/mccrindle.com.au\/insights\/blogarchive\/what-comes-after-generation-z-introducing-generation-alpha\/\">2.5 million Gen Alphas<\/a> born weekly around the world. They arrive in a world of smart phones and YouTube (a 100 hours of YouTube videos are uploaded per minute). These are children more influenced visually than through verbal listening skills or the written word. This makes it all the more critical for a reading culture to be created for a child &#8211; rather than just being connected to a screen.<\/p>\n<p>As children get older and have been inspired to read for themselves,\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inc.com\/bill-murphy-jr\/neuroscience-kids-success-parents-best-practices.html\">educational studies<\/a> suggest that it&#8217;s \u201creflecting on a learning experience afterward\u201d which encourages growth and independent thought. By encouraging children to read independently we&#8217;re giving them the ability to be autonomous and make decisions about what they choose to be interested in. As Ian McCue, young Co-Author of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ian-McCue\/e\/B06XWCHCVK\/ref=ntt_dp_epwbk_1\">Kid Start-Up: How You Can Be an Entrepreneur<\/a>\u201d says, \u201cChildren who ask a lot of questions, look for creative ways to complete tasks, or enjoy selling or making things have the mindset of an entrepreneur. We often shy away from talking about money issues and the price of things because of our own money concerns as adults. In fact, a study published in the journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26147775\">Development Psychology<\/a> found that disobedient children,\u201cEarn more as adults and are also more likely to be entrepreneurs,\u201d and that successful adults often had the characteristics of &#8220;rule-breaking and defiance of parental authority.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re not suggesting bringing up out of control children, but rather trying to channel rebellious energy into creative projects for youth.
